From Jim’s Desk
Greetings,
This week’s guest article is from Bo Short about perseverance. Is there anything in your life that you haven’t been able to accomplish? Is there something you’ve always wanted to complete, or finish, that was just out of reach? Is there anything that you have thought you have failed at, and didn’t attempt to try again?
Thomas Edison didn’t look at his thousands of attempts to create the light bulb as failures but as learning experiences. Say it out loud again: learning experiences. It changes your whole mind set when you think of it this way. They aren’t failures but learning experiences. If you realize that it was a learning experience and you are willing to continue on and try again. Well, then how can you fail? You can’t. It is simply impossible to fail, if you learn from your mistakes and continue to try. Realizing the potential in that thought is the first step to success. The slogan that Gayle and I use is simply how we feel about perseverance and persistence. If you haven’t seen it before here it is again: “Never give in! Never give in! Never, never, never, never-in nothing great or small, large or petty-never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.” - Winston Churchill This can be simplified even further by my recipe for success:
- Refuse to fail Learn from mistakes Make corrections
- Repeat Step 1-3 until successful
So you see, you can apply this “recipe” to your life, your work, to anything. And if you do you will be as successful as you want to be. The thing that you desire will become what you desire if you believe and have perseverance that it will be yours. So read Bo Short’s article this week with that in mind.
Thanks for reading and being a part of our team!
